In this project I started with a subject that had room for intricacy put in a semi-symmetrical S-shaped composition, I build off of this idea and created a composition that sprawled out from the main subject. I exaggerated the colors of a real brook trout in order to separate the main subject from the earthy natural background, this was a perfect subject for the colors to be played with, as brook trout naturally have lots of variation in their vibrant colors. In the background I watered down the detail of the rocks and made use of simple one color streaks in order to help add to the illusion of being beneath water. I deliberately did not add blue streaks over the fishes back to keep the image crisp and focused on the subject. I did add rings where the mayfly had landed and where fish's tail was breaking the surface, as well as a shadow under the fish. This helped suggest that the subject was under water with limited overlap of the water lines and the fish.
